The Etruscans, known as Rasenna in their own language, were the ancient people who once thrived on the lands of Central Italy. We honor their legacy as we cultivate the same soil they once called home.

Today, many of our partners farm in the once-abandoned rural Sambre Valley, just beyond Fiesole in the heart of Tuscany. This valley has been a cradle of agriculture for millennia, including during the time of the Etruscans.In the mid-20th century, during the economic booms of the 1950s and 1960s, many farmers left their groves to seek work in urban factories. As these lands were left uncultivated, invasive species took root, and biodiversity diminished.

Now, a new generation of farmers is reclaiming this rich heritage, part of a vibrant movement to rejuvenate these beautiful hills.
